WH Scott & Son Engineers Ltd (founded in 1897) and Hiltonne Engineering (the fabrication and design department, founded in 1978) are market leaders in the design and manufacture of highly-engineered lifting and handling solutions used in lifting, rigging and material handling applications. We stock large amounts of high running lifting and rigging products, such as electric chain hoists, manual chain and lever hosts, shackles, snatch blocks, sheaves and all related fittings, G8 & G10 chain slings and components like hooks, swivels, connectors and clamps under leading brands, which include Tiger, ELD, Stahl, and Righetti to name a few. We can also provide a number of services including; crane installation, crane maintenance, statutory inspections, HAVS testing, PAT testing, design/fabrication and consultancy services.

Company founded in Belfast by William Hill Scott and son as a boiler and pressure vessel manufacturer

1908

Expanded into lifting equipment supply and inspection during the building of the Great Arrol Gantry, used in the construction of the Titanic

1986

First digital test bed manufactured in Northern Ireland

1999

Company acquired by Swedish company OEM Gunnebo

2010

Management buy out of WH Scott & Son Engineers, headed by Patrick Doyle. Dublin depot opened

2011

Acquisition of Hiltonne Engineering in Wexford, adding design and fabrication capabilities and another depot

2015

Re-Ropes joined as a shareholder bringing the capability for elevator services across the UK and ROI

HANFWOLF – leading specialist in ropes, hoisting technology, plastic sheets and packaging – became a shareholder

2017

A fourth depot opened on the Liverpool docks, servicing the UK’s north west

2018

Plymouth, UK depot opened on Babcock Devonport Royal Dockyard to cater for the south west

2020

Design and fabrication department moves to new, modern facilities in Wexford, expanding its capabilities

2021

A new corporate office in Rathnew opened

2022

Completed acquisition of ReRopes, the first independent company in the UK to provide a supply and fit roping service to the lift industry

2023

Purchase of Metlab, a leading provider of engineering inspection and non-destructive testing
