Why apply here

The group is three companies under one employer, covering lifting, inspection, NDT, lift services, structural fabrication and asset management. In practice that means you can move from crane maintenance into inspection, or from welding into non-destructive testing, without changing employer or starting again on service.

There are fourteen offices across Ireland, Northern Ireland, Great Britain and Wales, so field roles are based near where people actually live rather than assuming a relocation. And because the work is carried out under LEEA membership, ISO 9001 and Metlab’s INAB accreditations, technical competence gets formally evidenced as you go — which matters when you want it recognised somewhere else later.

The business was founded in Belfast in 1897 and is still growing by acquisition. Long enough established to have proper systems; still changing enough that there is somewhere to go.

Why an apprenticeship

Lifting and inspection have a real skills shortage, and the group’s response is to train people rather than compete for a shrinking pool of already-qualified engineers. That makes an apprentice here a solution to an actual problem rather than an extra pair of hands.

Routes run across engineering, fabrication and business support in both Ireland and Great Britain — including the LEEA Lifting Equipment Technician Level 3, the industry’s own technician standard. You qualify into a trade that is regulated, in demand, and not going to be automated away.

Training is also delivered in-house: the group runs its own crane and slinger signaller courses and Re-Ropes technical rope seminars. The people teaching you are the people doing the work, not a separate training department.

Apprenticeships are advertised in the same list above, alongside permanent roles.
