Monaghan County Council is the authority responsible for local government in County Monaghan, Ireland. The council is responsible for housing and community, roads and transportation, urban planning and development, amenity and culture, and environment.
Needing to remove tail lifts from vehicles and place them into a rack easily and effectively, Monaghan County Council required two manual slew jibs, complete with electric hoists and covers. Having already established a relationship with the council, WH Scott and Son was invited to tender and successfully won the project.
As the equipment was to be kept outside, it was imperative that all parts and components were able to withstand the elements, therefore the jib cranes were designed to marine specifications and the hoists, chains and electrical controls were designed and tested to ensure they could endure the worst weathers; a lockable cabinet was also made to keep the hoist secure. Once manufactured, the WHS engineering team installed the jibs and completed a load test on each jib to ensure they were up to standard.
As part of the same project, the WHS team also supported the design, fabrication and installation of a bespoke tailgate rack based on specifications issued by the council to store the removed tail lifts safely at their logistics centre
