Lifting Services
Maintenance, servicing, testing, overhaul and modernisation for cranes, hoists and lifting equipment — whoever built it. From a single chain block to a full crane installation designed, fabricated and fitted by our own engineers across the UK and Ireland.
A Crane Is Only An Asset While It Is Running
Lifting equipment does not fail quietly. It fails mid-shift, under load, with a production line behind it. Planned maintenance is the difference between a scheduled two-hour visit and an unscheduled two-day stoppage — which is why regular inspection and servicing exists to identify potential issues before they lead to costly breakdowns or accidents.
We service, test, repair, overhaul and modernise cranes and hoists irrespective of the original manufacturer, and we design, fabricate and install new lifting equipment through our own steel fabrication arm. That means one contractor from specification through to the statutory report — and remedial work that does not have to be subcontracted out.
Our engineers cover the UK and Ireland, and the support line is staffed 24/365. Where a maintenance contract is in place, breakdown attendance is prioritised against it.

Design & Fabrication Under One Roof
Most lifting contractors fit what a manufacturer sends them. We make it. Structural steelwork for lifting equipment is designed, cut, welded, fabricated and installed by our own engineers — which is why bespoke gantries, runway extensions and support steel do not have to wait on a third-party lead time.
- Design, manufacture, weld, fabricate and install structural steel works
- CE marking approval up to EXC2, the highest execution class
- Welders and fabricators trained to coded specifications
- NDT by dye penetrant, MPI, radiography and ultrasonic inspection
- CNC cutting, milling and drilling machinery
How a Lifting Contract Works
Five steps, whichever services you take. Most clients start with one survey and end with a rolling maintenance contract that also covers their statutory examinations.
Survey & Asset Register
We attend site, list every crane, hoist and accessory in scope, record make, capacity and condition, and identify what regime each item falls under.
Plan & Schedule
A maintenance tier is agreed and a visit calendar built around your production windows, grouping servicing and statutory examination into the same attendance where possible.
Service On Site
Brake adjustment, service limits and anti-collision checks, lubrication of ropes and moving parts, and visual inspection of gantry beams, runways and support structures.
Report & Certification
Certificates are generated as the engineer completes the inspection on a tablet, then published to the online dashboard with defects, observations and comments recorded.
Repair, Overhaul or Upgrade
Anything found is quoted and carried out by our own engineers — from a part replacement to a full overhaul or a modernisation that brings the crane up to current standards.

Sectors We Lift For
A crane in a cleanroom, a crane on a quayside and a crane in a foundry need the same statutory attention and completely different working practices. Our engineers work to sector-specific access, permit, hygiene and shutdown constraints.
Lifting Services FAQs
How often should an overhead crane be serviced?
As a general position, overhead gantry cranes, wire rope hoists and chain hoists are examined at least annually, with a six-month period suggested in high-usage areas. Our Bronze and Silver maintenance plans work on a six-monthly visit, and Gold on a quarterly one.
Servicing frequency and statutory examination frequency are not the same thing, though they are usually planned together. Your actual examination interval depends on the equipment, its duty and the applicable regulations — we confirm that at survey.
What does a crane service visit actually include?
A service covers adjustment of brakes, checking of service limits and anti-collision systems, lubrication of ropes and moving parts, and visual inspection of the crane gantry beams, runways and support structures.
Component by component, that takes in hoist units, crab units, the bridge and structure, end carriages, load ropes and chains, gearboxes, motors, brakes, welds, wheels, buffers, drive shafts, couplings and auxiliary equipment. Each visit produces a written report showing defects, observations and comments.
Will you work on cranes you did not supply?
Yes. All crane manufacturers are covered, and refurbishment and modernisation are carried out irrespective of the original manufacturer. That applies to existing, second-hand, leased and new equipment alike.
We hold a substantial stock of spare parts, which is usually what determines whether an older or obsolete crane can be repaired economically.
How quickly can you get an engineer to site for a breakdown?
The support line is staffed 24/365. Response depends on your location and the cover you hold — the average that an engineer is dispatched to site is within two hours of your call.
Gold maintenance plans include 24/7 emergency support and reduced rates on major repairs; Silver includes priority repair scheduling. Tell us where your sites are and we will confirm what response we can commit to in writing.
Should I overhaul and modernise, or replace the crane?
Modernisation is usually the cheaper route where the structure is sound. Typical upgrades include inverter control to reduce sway, anti-collision, load limiting and load indication, radio remote control, and regeneration drives that decrease energy usage by harvesting electricity.
The gains are longer operating life, reduced downtime, faster servicing and repair, better spare parts availability, and equipment that meets the latest UKCA and European safety regulations. Where the structure itself is at its limit, we will say so rather than sell an upgrade that only defers the problem.
Is your crane and lifting training accredited?
No — it is in-house, non-accredited training, and we would rather be straightforward about that. The Overhead Gantry Crane and Slinger Signaller course runs for one day with a maximum of four delegates, and covers legislation, crane controls, safe working loads, slinging and signalling, PPE and maintenance and inspection.
Successful delegates receive an in-house certificate valid for three years. If your site or client requires an externally accredited card scheme instead, tell us at enquiry stage and we will point you to the right route.
Can you fabricate and install bespoke lifting equipment?
Yes. We design, manufacture, weld, fabricate and install structural steel works with CE marking approval up to EXC2, using CNC cutting, milling and drilling machinery. Our welders and structural steel fabricators are trained to coded specifications and have experience in NDT testing by dye penetrant, MPI, radiography and ultrasonic inspection.
Put Your Cranes On A Planned Programme
Tell us what you operate and where. We will survey the equipment, recommend a maintenance tier, fold your statutory examinations into the same visits, and quote it as one contract.
