WH SCOTT
Lifting Tables and Lifting Platforms
Scissor lift tables, flat lift platforms and bespoke lifting systems for stacking, height compensation, assembly support and heavy load transfer — supplied, installed and maintained across the UK and Ireland.
Industrial Lifting Tables and Platforms
A lifting table raises, lowers and holds a load at a set working height, removing the bending, reaching and repeated manual handling that slow a line down and cause injuries.
WH Scott supplies, installs and maintains lifting tables and platforms for manufacturing, logistics and assembly operations throughout the UK and Ireland. As an approved UK supplier and installer of LAWECO lifting products, we can specify anything from a standard scissor lift table to a fully engineered platform built around your load, cycle time and floor layout — and keep it running and certified once it is in service.

Lifting Table Types We Supply
Not every application suits a hydraulic scissor table. The right choice comes down to load weight, stroke, cycle speed, available installation depth and how clean the environment has to be.
- Scissor lift tables — stationary or mobile, and the standard answer for stacking, de-stacking and pallet handling. Multi-scissor arrangements take very heavy stacks; woodworking installations run to stack weights of up to 120 tonnes.
- Flat lift platforms — a low-profile alternative where installation depth is limited or a completely flat, trip-free deck is needed in a walked-on area.
- Oil-free drive systems — spindle, belt and push-chain platforms replace hydraulics where precision positioning, low maintenance and the absence of oil matter, typically in automotive assembly and other clean processes.
- Bespoke lifting platforms — designed and fabricated to your requirements for non-standard loads and layouts, including production-line integration, freight and lorry lift systems, and air cargo workstations and truck docks.
Specifying the Right Lifting Table
Capacity, stroke and platform size are built around the application rather than picked off a shelf. To scope a system accurately we need to understand five things:
- The load — weight, dimensions, stability and how it arrives at the table.
- The task — stacking, pallet handling, coil or reel handling, assembly support or cargo transfer.
- Duty cycle and speed — occasional repositioning, or a continuous production beat that dictates lift speed.
- The environment — indoor, outdoor, washdown, hazardous area or a clean process with oil-free requirements.
- Installation format — pit-mounted or surface-mounted, stationary or mobile.
On higher-duty installations, CAN-based open control is worth specifying early: it reduces electrical connections and improves availability.

Applications Across Industry
Lifting tables are used wherever a load has to be presented at the right height safely and repeatedly — stacking and de-stacking, height compensation between processes, raising and lowering pallets, assembly support and heavy load transfer.
- Woodworking — stacking and de-stacking board and panel, and levelling pallet heights between machines.
- Sheet metal — coil infeed and outfeed, coil storage, blank handling and conveyor integration.
- Paper — roll and reel handling, rack loading, stacking and de-stacking.
- Automotive and aerospace — assembly support and component or fuselage handling where precision and cleanliness are critical.
- Air cargo and logistics — container and pallet transfer at truck docks and loading positions.
- Rail — assembly platforms, including drive unit installation and removal.
Lifting Table Compliance in the UK and Ireland
New lifting tables should be supplied to BS EN 1570-1 (adopted in Ireland as I.S. EN 1570-1), the safety standard for lifting tables serving up to two fixed landings, and carry UKCA or CE marking as appropriate to the market.
Once in service, a lifting table used at work to raise or lower a load is lifting equipment. In the UK that brings it within LOLER 1998 and its Northern Ireland equivalent, which require thorough examination by a competent person at least every 12 months where the table lifts loads only, and at least every 6 months where it can lift people. In the Republic of Ireland the same duties sit under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 (S.I. No. 299 of 2007), which set the same 12 and 6 month intervals. We carry out statutory lifting inspection in Ireland as well as across the UK, so equipment we supply stays certified by the same team that installed it.
