WH SCOTT

AUTEC Air Series Radio Remote Controls for Cranes and Lifting Equipment

Fail-safe wireless control for overhead cranes, hoists and industrial machinery — specified, installed and supported by WH Scott, the AUTEC agent for the UK and Ireland.

Wireless Crane Control, Matched to Your Lifting Equipment

The Air Series is AUTEC’s radio remote control platform for industrial lifting and automation. It replaces trailing pendants and fixed control panels with a handheld or belly-mounted transmitter, so the operator can stand where the load and the hazard are actually visible instead of being tied to the machine.

WH Scott is the AUTEC agent for the UK and Ireland, and the only authorised AUTEC radio remote repair centre in either country. We specify the transmitter, receiver and machine interface, install and commission the system, then support it with parts and engineers held in Bristol and Ireland — the difference between a fault and a stopped crane.

Why Specifiers Choose the Air Series

Certified safety functions

TÜV Rheinland has certified the STOP function on selected Air Series models to PL e and SIL 3 under EN ISO 13849-1 and EN IEC 62061. The A4, A6 and A8 handhelds are rated up to PL d, so we confirm the level achievable on your machine at specification stage.

Radio that holds up on a busy site

Dual-band operation with automatic free-channel search at start-up, or frequency-hopping (FHSS) on the LK NEO and SIDEKICK units, keeps systems working where several cranes share the same building.

Built for industrial duty

IP65 enclosures and a −20°C to +55°C operating range, with a data logger recording the command sequences used and status LEDs or a colour display giving feedback from the machine.

Operator safeguards

Options include a removable magnetic or mechanical ignition key, an IR sensor that restricts the operating zone, an enabling switch, and a Zero-G sensor that reacts to impact, tilt or a fall of more than a metre.

One configurable platform

Any Air Series receiver pairs with any transmitter in the range, including multi-transmitter and multi-receiver arrangements for multi-crane bays. A tether cable option lets a transmitter run wired where radio use is restricted.

Supported in the UK and Ireland

Systems come with AUTEC’s two-year warranty on electrical components, excluding batteries, and are repaired in-country rather than returned to an overseas manufacturer.

Choosing the Right Transmitter

A4 / A6 / A8 push-button handhelds

Compact handhelds with up to eight double-pressure push buttons and a STOP button, weighing 250 g. Supplied with an internal rechargeable Li-ion battery and docking station, or as A4B / A6B / A8B with two extractable external batteries and a charger.

LK NEO 6 / 8 / 10 / 12

The premium push-button range: up to twelve buttons, a wide choice of actuators, machine-status LEDs and a data logger. A 1.8-inch colour display is available on the six and ten-button versions, and LK NEO 8 EX and 12 EX cover ATEX and IECEx hazardous areas.

SIDEKICK SK4

A light, single-hand unit with up to four toggle switches and an inclined panel, for machines with a small number of functions — tow vehicles and forestry winches being the typical fit.

Lifting Solutions

Part of a complete lifting range

This is one of the complete lifting solutions delivered by WH Scott across the UK and Ireland — from radio remotes, hoists and crane components to fully bespoke crane systems. Explore the full range to find the right fit for your operation.

Receivers and Machine Integration

The Air Series covers 24 V to 400 V AC and 12–24 V DC supplies, and drives either programmable relays or a fieldbus connection — CANopen, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP or serial — where the machine already has a PLC. Typical working range is around 100 metres.

Specifying a system comes down to four things:

  • The number and type of motions, and whether any need proportional control
  • Whether the operator needs display feedback from the machine
  • The supply voltage and control interface already on the machine
  • The working environment, and whether ATEX or IECEx certification is required

Where Air Series Systems Are Used

Air Series systems are fitted to overhead and gantry cranes, jib cranes, electric chain hoists and winches, lifting magnets and under-hook attachments, conveyors and machine tools, automated warehouses, container handling, and forestry winches.
