The Challenge
Monaghan County Council required a practical and safe solution for removing tail lifts from vehicles and transferring them into storage racks. The process needed to be efficient, reducing manual handling risks while improving operational workflow within their logistics centre.
A key challenge was that the equipment would be installed outdoors, exposing it to harsh weather conditions year-round. This required a solution that could maintain performance and safety standards despite prolonged exposure to rain, wind, and temperature fluctuations.
In addition, the council needed a fully integrated system that not only facilitated lifting operations but also ensured safe and organized storage of removed tail lifts.
The Solution
WH Scott designed and delivered two manual slew jib cranes, each fitted with electric hoists and protective covers, specifically engineered for outdoor use. To ensure durability, all components were manufactured to marine-grade specifications, providing resistance to corrosion and environmental wear.
The hoists, chains, and electrical controls were carefully selected and tested to withstand extreme weather conditions. A lockable cabinet was also incorporated to securely house the hoist equipment when not in use, enhancing both protection and site safety.
Alongside the crane installation, WH Scott supported the design, fabrication, and installation of a bespoke tail lift storage rack, built to the council’s specifications. This provided a complete handling and storage solution tailored to the operational needs of the facility.
